out of this body,
out of this mind
running frantically in place
as though running out of time
in my dreams i search for you
amid a forest thick with mist,
but you are not to be found,
and there i remain alone and adrift
when suddenly you appear
under a half-lit waning moon,
time itself stands illuminated
yet you disappear far too soon
i reach blindly for your shadow
and to it I dare cling,
but your shadow slowly fades–
no solace does it bring
—Turns out nightmares are oddly good for poetry, lol. Mj

Wow, this resonates big-time with a past experience of mine. You must be tapping into universal themes here, but it feels so personal. A mark of good poetry, IMO! 🙂

Thanks so much, Camilla. The feeling of something or someone being unattainable. I think it’s a theme in my life!

Life-themes are fascinating to me. Like dream-themes, I think they hold keys for us along our journey.

Ah, yes, The Old Church. I played there a few times over the years. Not on piano though, Lol. It’s changed its direction a few times over the years. It used to be a place where only classical, acoustic jazz, and New Age shows (recitals) occurred. Not so anymore.

Are you in Portland, then? (If you don’t mind me asking!)

I’m in LA, Southern California. Portland sounds lovely though!

Oh, funny! I guess there’s more than one “Old Church” venue in the country! Hahaha! 🙂
